OpenDissect

Privacy policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you use OpenDissect (opendissect.com). It is written for the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP/nDSG) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Controller

Albert Antoni Favà Altés, Aarbergstrasse 15, 3268 Lobsigen (BE), Switzerland · [email protected]

2. No account needed

You can use OpenDissect without an account. OpenDissect itself sets no tracking cookies; advertising cookies are used only as described in section 8.

3. Settings stored on your device

Your preferences (language, graphics quality, dark mode, which notices you have closed, lesson progress and panel positions) are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are not sent to us and can be deleted at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.

4. Hosting and server logs

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) through its content delivery network. When you open the site, your browser sends technical data that is needed to deliver it and to protect it against attacks: IP address, date and time, requested file, browser and operating system, and the referring page. Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf and may process it in countries outside Switzerland and the EU, including the USA; transfers are covered by the Swiss–US and EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in providing a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

5. Visitor statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It works without cookies and without storing personal profiles; it does not use your IP address to identify you or follow you across websites.

6. Contact

If you write to us by e-mail, we use your message and address only to answer you and delete them when they are no longer needed.

7. "Notify me" list

Some features are marked "coming soon". If you leave your e-mail address there, we store it (with the feature you chose and the date) in Cloudflare's storage only to tell you when that feature opens. We do not share it or use it for anything else. You can ask us to delete it at any time; it is deleted at the latest when the feature has launched and you have been told. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

8. Advertising (Google AdSense)

To keep OpenDissect free, the site shows advertising through Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them and prevent fraud. Where the law requires it (Switzerland, the EU and the UK), you are asked first in a consent message and can choose personalised ads, non-personalised ads or no consent; you can change your choice at any time. Google may process data in the USA; transfers are covered by the Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). More: how Google uses data in advertising and Google ad settings.

9. Your rights

You have the right to information about your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. Write to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC/EDÖB) or, in the EU, to your local data protection authority.

10. Children

OpenDissect is intended for students and health professionals and is not directed at children under 16.

11. Changes

We may update this policy when the website changes. The current version is always available on this page.
